Oklahoma Out of Crop Insurance Program.(Originated from Tulsa World, Okla.)

Sep. 24--Less than a week remains in the sign-up period for federal crop insurance, and Oklahoma's exclusion from a pilot program that guarantees income even in the face of market or weather-related disasters appears final.

Pressure from the state's congressional delegation, farm organizations and U.S. Department of Agriculture officers in the state for inclusion in the Crop Revenue Coverage pilot program produced no changes in the list of eligible states. Those groups have fought for a spot in the program from the time the list of states was announced by the USDA in July.

Last week, Oklahoma Farm Bureau directors voted to not file a legal challenge to the decision denying Oklahoma farmers coverage in the program.
