Southwest Airlines to Kick Off Service at Jacksonville International Airport.(Originated from The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville)

Jacksonville--Sep. 24--Southwest Airlines could have more flights from Jacksonville than any other airline starting day one -- Jan. 15, the airline announced yesterday.

The no-frills, low-fare carrier plans to kick off service at Jacksonville International Airport with 14 non-stop daily flights to six cities.

They are: Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Nashville, Baltimore, Indianapolis and New Orleans.

It breaks down like this: five daily flights to Fort Lauderdale, three to Nashville, two to Baltimore, one to Indianapolis (which also offers one-stop, no change of plane continuing service to Chicago Midway), one to New Orleans, and two to Tampa.

Currently, JIA's busiest jet carrier is USAir with 13 daily flights.
