Arizona's Sun Land Beef Co. Plans Expansion.(Originated from The Arizona Republic/Phoenix Gazette)

Nov. 1--Sun Land Beef Co. of Tolleson will go ahead with plans to beef up its meatpacking operations after its recent acquisition by Packerland Packing Co. of Green Bay, Wis.

Harvey Dietrich, co-founder and president of Sun Land, said the company plans to boost production and employment 25 to 30 percent in the next two years as a wholly owned subsidiary of Packerland.

"Nothing's going to be changed. If anything, we're adding," said Dietrich, who started the business in 1982 with several partners in the cattle-feeding business.

Packerland, whose name and company colors recall Green Bay's beloved Packers professional football team, closed the deal for privately held Sun Land on Oct. 24 in a shareholder buyout. Terms of the sale were...
