Washington State Professors Form Company to Sell Internet Search Technology.(Originated from The News Tribune, Tacoma, Wash.)

TACOMA, Wash.--Nov. 7--Two University of Washington professors who developed technology to find information on the Internet have formed a company to advance their research.

Computer science researchers Oren Etzioni and Dan Weld have already found academic success with Metacrawler, an Internet tool that searches nine popular Internet search engines like Yahoo! and Alta Vista for key words. Search engines are tools used to find information on the Internet.

Now, with a company called NetBot, the professors hope to take the technology used in Metacrawler and advance it to the next generation of Internet search tools.
