New Orleans-Based Company Acquires Sentry Alarm Systems of America Inc.(Originated from St. Petersburg Times, Fla.)

CLEARWATER, Fla.--Nov. 25--A New Orleans-based electric power company is buying Sentry Alarm Systems of America Inc. in Clearwater for $41 million.

Entergy Corp.'s purchase of privately held Sentry, which owns Sonitrol Southeast Inc., won't mean any major changes locally, said John Rooney, Sentry's president.

Rooney and the rest of the management team will remain with the company. It will continue to do business under its current name. And it will maintain its staff of 215 people, including 100 in the Tampa Bay area, and its 13 offices around the state.

If anything, Sentry should be able to expand more rapidly thanks to Entergy's financial might, Rooney said. "Entergy is a $6-billion-a-year company," he said.
