Growing Video Chain Moves into Milwaukee Area, Challenges Blockbuster.(Originated from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

Dec. 24--Rapidly growing Hollywood Entertainment Corp., an Oregon-based chain that aspires to become the country's second category killer in the video rental market, plans to open 25 to 30 Hollywood Video stores in the Milwaukee area over the next few years, the company announced Monday.

The move, part of an aggressive national expansion, will pit Hollywood against market leader Blockbuster Video, the local Planet Video chain and what one operator described as a dwindling number of independents.

Stock analyst Scott C. Barry of Raymond James & Associates said it's the independents who are likely to be the losers.
