WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Jan. 4--A small long-distance telephone service provider is among the first independents to enter the local telephone service fray.
Starting Monday, CalTech International Telecom of Walnut Creek will offer local telephone service resales to businesses and residences statewide at measured rates.
Last spring, CalTech President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Elkins said he expected to focus on the same local markets as those targeted by his long-distance business: nonprofit organizations and large buying groups, such as physicians and hospitals. But Friday he said a less crowded than expected market has prompted him to broaden his market to include all businesses and residences in California.
