Jan. 8--Intel Corp. today delivers its antidote to a lackluster Christmas sales season for personal computers -- a new chip technology that will add zip to computers working with video, audio and advanced graphics.

The world's largest chipmaker designed its MMX-enhanced Pentium processors to boost computer power for such tasks as games and editing photographic images. Users of Intel-based PCs can look forward to expanded capabilities for desktop publishing and videoconferencing and to more exciting computer games.

Intel has begun selling MMX-enhanced Pentium chips. Computer makers, including Austin's Dell Computer, are announcing products today that incorporate the new technology.
