Rear-Seat Life Gets Better for Contour, Mystique.(Originated from Detroit Free Press)

Getting comfortable in the backseat of a Ford Contour or Mercury Mystique has not been easy. It's a tight fit from head to toe.

So Ford will try to make things a little more pleasant back there in the 1998 Contour and Mystique.

This isn't a complete redesign of the original 1995 models, which were a huge improvement over the old Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz they replaced.

But the Contour has a new front end, with wraparound headlights and a more prominent grille, and a new rear end with wraparound taillights that stretch across the trunk lid with a reflector bar.

The Mystique gets a somewhat more elegant and upscale look, with a grille resembling those on the Lincoln Continental...
