Indiana's Cook Group, Johnson & Johnson Settle Patent Suit.(Originated from The Indianapolis Star and News)

Jan. 10--Cook Group Inc. and Johnson & Johnson have settled a patent infringement suit over a device that props open blocked coronary arteries.
The settlement, which calls for Cook to make royalty payments to J&J, comes roughly two months before a March 3 trial in federal court in Indianapolis.
In return for royalty payments, J&J will grant Bloomington, Ind.-based Cook a license to make the devices, called stents, under its patent.
The impact on Cook is unclear, because neither side would disclose financial or other terms of the settlement.
"We're very pleased to put this behind us and go forward," said Phyllis McCullough, president of Cook.
