Recreational Vehicle Industry Reports Shipment Drop.(Originated from The Press-Enterprise, Riverside, Calif.)

Jan. 16--November recreational vehicle shipments fell 12.7 percent below prior-year figures in what one economist said is the beginning of a slight downward trend in RV shipment figures that could last through 1997.

A monthly survey by the Reston, Va.-based Recreation Vehicle Industry Association showed flat shipment figures for conventional motorhomes, the most expensive RV product, and small gains for two categories of towable vehicles: Shipments of folding camping trailers were up 12.1 percent while the pricier fifth wheel trailers were up 3.3 percent.

On the negative side, conventional travel trailer shipments fell 2.3 percent while mini-motorhome shipments plummeted 20 percent.
