BP Seeks Approval to Drill at Badami Oil Field on Alaska's North Slope.(Originated from Anchorage Daily News)

Feb. 6--BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. this month will seek permission from its London headquarters to develop the Badami oil field on the North Slope. Spokesman Paul Laird said British Petroleum's new Capital Allocation Committee will make the decision, but he didn't know how long before an answer will be announced.

Badami, expected to yield 120 million barrels of oil, lies along and under Mikkelsen Bay, between Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. About two-thirds of the oil is offshore, Laird said, but the entire deposit will be drilled from a single onshore drill pad.
