Georgia's Money Tree Inc. Agrees to Settle Federal Charges.(Originated from The Atlanta Journal and Constitution)

ATLANTA--Feb. 5--The Money Tree Inc., a lending firm based in Bainbridge, has agreed to refund up to $1.2 million in credits to borrowers to settle Federal Trade Commission allegations it failed to disclose the correct interest cost of some loans that included insurance protection.

Money Tree also agreed to pay $75,000 in civil penalties to settle FTC allegations that it discriminated against elderly consumers and consumers who received public assistance.

In accepting the consent agreements, Money Tree did not admit any law violation. In fact, Vance R. Martin, president of the privately held firm, said the firm strongly denied the allegations.
