British Cookson Group Acquires U.S. Jewelry Firms.(Originated from The Providence Journal-Bulletin, R.I.)

Feb. 28--Cookson Group Plc, the London-based international industrial materials group, said yesterday it had acquired two U.S. companies in the jewelry industry.
Cookson, whose U.S. operation, Cookson USA, is headquartered in Providence, said it has purchased the business and assets of Howard H. Sweet & Son Inc., a subsidiary of Tiffany & Co. of New York. Terms were not released.
Howard Sweet manufactures high-quality jewelry chain and precious-metals stampings and components for the jewelery industry, with operations in Attleboro, Mass.
Cookson and Tiffany also entered into a five-year supply contract, which the company said is expected to result in sales of $70 million during that period.
