Internet Gaining More Fans in Americans, Canadians, Research Survey Finds.(Originated from The Boston Globe)

Mar. 14--No, it's not your imagination: The Internet really is getting more crowded. So says a new Nielsen Media Research survey that concludes use of the 'Net among Americans and Canadians has doubled in the past 18 months.

A random survey of 6,700 people found that about 23 percent of Americans and Canadians over the age of 16 -- nearly one out of every four respondents -- used the Internet in the past month. That's about 50 million out of about 220 million possible users in that age range, said Nielsen vice president Paul Lindstrom. By comparison, only 10 percent of those surveyed in late 1995 had recently been on line.
