Blue Cross Florida Launches Corporate Restructuring.(Originated from The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville)

Apr. 6--After a year of planning, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida this week launched a corporate restructuring aimed at transforming the state's largest health insurer into a "world-class managed care company," the company said.
The reorganization, which will unfold over the remainder of 1997, starts by collapsing five existing regional offices around the state into three.
As part of yesterday's announcement, the company promoted 10 executives into new senior positions.
But the sweeping changes will also eliminate dozens of existing positions. Company officials refused to rule out the possibility of layoffs.
