Apr. 14--Many warm summer nights ago, Paul Woollomes spotted an alligator at Hart Park. He was frogging, but this one had teeth.

Being a small alligator, it didn't eat him. But being an alligator, the creature thought it might be worth a try. It was a tie. No one was eaten.

Woollomes (Lake Woollomes near Delano was named after his father) probably knows more about Hart Park than any man alive. It's cheating that he's even in the contest. Easter Sunday marked 50 years of Woollomes' ownership of Kern River Park Concessions, the hamburger spot that doubles as a boat rental stand at Hart Park.
