Ford Engine Plant To Work 'Round The Clock.(Originated from Detroit Free Press)

Apr. 11--Ford Motor Co. intends to add a third shift of about 220 workers to its Windsor Engine Plant this month to produce more 4.6-liter engines for its popular F-series pickups and Expedition sport-utility vehicles.

Ford spokesmen confirmed the expansion Thursday, saying it would ease some production bottlenecks in assembly plants caused by an insufficient number of the popular engines.

Also Thursday, Ford's board of directors declared a second-quarter dividend of 42 cents a share on Class B and common stock.

That represents a 9-percent increase over the 38.5-cent dividend in place since 1996's third quarter.
