Massachusetts' Spring Housing Market Should Be Busy.(Originated from The Boston Globe)

Apr. 26--If March is any indication, the state's spring housing market should be bursting with verve.

Single-family home sales in Massachusetts increased 10 percent last month, compared to the same period last year, while prices jumped 6.6 percent to an average $186,353. Condominiums also posted strong results in March, up 13 percent over the same month last year, as prices climbed 11.5 percent to an average $118,191.

The local figures, released yesterday by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors, surpass the national statistics, which show a 2.8 percent drop in home sales. The Northeast was the only region with a gain, rising 1.6 percent, according to the nationwide association.
