Trader Joe's to Open Store in Federal Way, Wash.(Originated from The News Tribune, Tacoma, Wash.)

TACOMA, Wash.--May 9--Federal Way is about to get a store its president once called "a value-priced fashion food and beverage retailer."

In short, Federal Way's about to experience a Trader Joe's.

The 93-store, South Pasadena, Calif., chain expects to open in Ross Plaza, 32073 Pacific Highway S., on June 6. The former fabric store is across the street from SeaTac Mall, where the company looked to build a store two years ago.

The company has already put its sign on the 9,000-square-foot store.

"In many cases, our prices are lower than Costco's without needing to buy restaurant-sized portions," said Trader Joe's vice president for marketing, Pat St. John.

"We think of ourselves as traders on the world food...
