May 26--No news was good news last week when the Federal Reserve chose not to raise interest rates.
The government inaction caused joy in the stock market and brought temporary relief to those who feared the Fed would endanger our economic recovery by raising rates.
Economist Michael Bazdarich says the economy is recovering slowly and steadily, not roaring or booming. That steadiness is reflected in job growth figures from the California Employment Development Department and in housing sales figures from Anaheim-based Experian.
The EDD report for April showed that Riverside and San Bernardino counties added 30,000 jobs between April 1996 and last month. The number of nonfarm jobs rose to 835,400 in the Inland Empire, an increase...
