UAW Ends Oklahoma City Strike, Turns to Pontiac, Mich., GM Strike.(Originated from Detroit Free Press)

May 28--The UAW resumed building Chevrolet Malibus and Oldsmobile Cutlasses on Tuesday after ending a 53-day strike in Oklahoma City, turning attention to the 5-week-old strike at a General Motors Corp. pickup plant in Pontiac.

"The truck plant is the one we want to see up," said Chevrolet dealer Jerry Seiner of Salt Lake City, noting that he has orders for trucks that haven't been built.

Negotiators for GM and the UAW resumed talks in Pontiac on Tuesday after recessing Sunday and Monday.

"It's good news that we have a tentative settlement in Oklahoma City," GM spokesman Tom Beaman said Tuesday, downplaying any extra attention that might be focused on Pontiac.

"I think there's plenty of attention on this," he said....
