Individual Inc. Discontinues Freeloader Offline Web-Browsing Product.(Originated from The Boston Globe)

May 29--One of the first products to automatically push information from the Internet into desktop computers has given up the ghost, a victim of weak demand and the merciless competition between Microsoft Corp. and Netscape Communications Corp.
Burlington-based Individual Inc. said yesterday that it will shut down its Freeloader Internet service, which the company acquired last year. Freeloader was an advertiser-supported service based in San Francisco. The service gave users free software which would automatically download information from World Wide Web sites. This way, the information could be read "offline" at any convenient time.
