Massachusetts Pasta Factory Deal Remains a Question Mark.(Originated from The Boston Globe)

Jun. 5--After a roller-coaster day of tumultuous negotiations, Boston Macaroni Co. claimed to be near an agreement to buy the Prince pasta plant in Lowell from Borden Foods Corp. and save the jobs of 409 workers, many of them immigrants who speak little English.
However, there was no word from Borden whether a deal with Boston Macaroni, a coalition of investors and the plant's workers, was likely.
And U.S. Representative Martin T. Meehan, the Lowell Democrat who has been closely monitoring negotiations, said, "Nobody knows what will happen."
The day began with an early morning meeting at Borden's Ohio headquarters that ended with Boston Macaroni principals angrily walking out of the room.
