Aug. 27--Investigators searching for the cause of the FedEx Flight 14 crash in Newark are focusing on mechanical failure, sources familiar with the investigation said.
The FedEx MD11 was destroyed July 31 when it overturned after landing and was consumed by fire. The two pilots and three passengers escaped without serious injuries, but the $120 million aircraft and its contents were lost.
FedEx officials declined to comment on the accident, saying it was still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). But company pilots say the two crew ...
