Sep. 5--Roughly 150 to 250 Amgen employees in Boulder will be affected by a restructuring and partner-search announced Thursday.

Amgen said it is seeking a corporate partner to help finance its Boulder-centered research and development on inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis.

The Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based biotech company employs 550 people in Boulder and Longmont, and 150 to 250 will be moved into a new R&D company, said Martin Simonetti, director of Amgen's Colorado operations.

The rest, who are involved in manufacturing drugs for clinical trials, will remain with Amgen and be unaffected by the move, he said. Amgen has one manufacturing operation near the Boulder Airport and one near its main offices at 3200...
