Sprint, Radio Shack Begin Joint Phone Venture.(Originated from The Boston Globe)

Sep. 25--With the support of a $40 million ad campaign starring the Jetsons, from the old cartoon show, Sprint Corp. began selling phones and services at more than 6,000 Radio Shack stores yesterday.
For Radio Shack, the deal is a chance to exploit the phone business at a time when the consumer electronics industry is lagging. For Sprint, opening ministores within Radio Shacks is an opportunity to seize an advantage in the brave new world created by last year's Telecommunications Act.
The alliance with Radio Shack gives Sprint a way to stand out from the pack with a physical presence where customers can touch Sprint products and where the company can educate its customers.
