Advantix Buys Ticket Vendor, Looks to Compete with Ticketmaster.(Originated from The Orange County Register, Calif.)

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--Sep. 30--Setting up a potential challenge to Ticketmaster, ticket-system maker Advantix Inc. said Monday it bought Bay Area Seating Service Inc.
The sale could free BASS, the largest computerized ticket vendor in Northern California and Northern Nevada, to enter the Southern California market. It couldn't do that before, Advantix President W. Thomas Gimple said, because of a licensing agreement with Ticketmaster, which supplied BASS's ticketing software.
The Advantix sale changes that. BASS will replace Ticketmaster's software with Advantix software before the end of the year, Gimple said. Once the new software is installed, he said, the legal constraint on BASS will disappear.
