Great Lakes Chemical Looks to Future Without Lead Weight.(Originated from The Indianapolis Star and News)

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.--Oct. 5--It's back to the future for Great Lakes Chemical Corp.
Robert McDonald, the company's president and chief executive, says a "new GLK" (a reference to Great Lakes' stock-trading symbol) is coming.
"It's sort of going back to the old GLK," McDonald says. "The objective will be a better GLK than we've ever seen in the past."
All of this stems from Great Lakes' decision to spin off its Octel Associates unit into a new, independent company. For nearly a decade, Octel, based in the United Kingdom, has been a cash cow for the Indiana company.
