Cable TV Company Adelphia Offers Long-Distance Service in Pennsylvania.(Originated from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Oct. 9--Cable television company Adelphia Communications Corp. is now selling long-distance telephone service throughout Pennsylvania, the company announced yesterday.
The Coudersport-based company is not setting up its own telephone network, but instead will market service provided by IXC Communications Inc. But Adelphia officials said the new service is one more step toward living up to their corporate slogan of "Your link. For everything."
Already in parts of western Pennsylvania, the company offers cable TV, high-speed Internet access and paging service. The long-distance phone service is available to both cable TV subscribers and non-subscribers alike. In other areas of the country, Adelphia also offers mobile phone service and home...
