California Lawmakers Discuss How to Slow Aerospace Industry's Decline.(Originated from The Bakersfield Californian)

PALMDALE, Calif.--Oct. 17--California officials are targeting other states and declaring war to keep the aerospace industry a vital part of Kern County's and California's economy.

Competition for the government's dwindling aerospace military programs is fierce. Members of the state Assembly Select Committee discussed the future of the aerospace industry in the Kern County desert and Antelope Valley on Thursday at Plant 42, an Air Force and NASA maintenance and production facility.

"There are not that many big programs and those programs are going to be it into the new century," said Alexis Allen, a spokesperson for the Aerospace Industries Association in Washington, D.C.
