America West Airlines Hopes to Increase Access to Washington National Airport.(Originated from The Arizona Republic)

Oct. 24--America West Airlines hopes to increase its access to Washington National Airport airport and to lower airfares for consumers in the west under legislation being drawn up by Senator John McCain.

The bill is expected to contain a provision that would make America West and other airlines eligible to conduct a non-stop flight between Phoenix and Washington, D.C.'s National Airport.

McCain is introducing the legislation Tuesday, with a hearing scheduled in the Commerce Committee later that day.
