Wearable PCs Are the Latest in Techno-Chic, According to Comdex.(Originated from The Orange County Register, Calif.)

LAS VEGAS--Nov. 20--What's the latest in Geek Chic?

Leave it to the giant computer show known as Comdex, that nexus of high-tech genius and Las Vegas glitz, to supply the answer: wearable PCs.

On Wednesday two Spandex-clad spokesmodels showed off Via Inc.'s new flexible PC, a full-blown computer that wraps around your waist like a belt. You can compute and make a fashion statement.

"It really is for people who really can't stop what they're doing to open a notebook computer," said David J. Baker, vice president of the Northfield, Minn., company.

While the concept may seem a bit esoteric, the device is expected to have real-life usefulness, the company says.
