Microsoft to Introduce Windows 98 as Scheduled in May.

May 1--Despite the prospect of a new legal attack from federal and state antitrust regulators, Microsoft Corp. says it expects to introduce its Windows 98 operating system as scheduled on May 25.

But the company warned that any court-ordered delay could have serious consequences for the entire computer industry. Some local software companies agree, and are urging Congress and federal regulators not to meddle with the industry's most powerful company.

Microsoft is already fighting the U.S. Justice Department, which wants to force the company to separate its Internet Explorer Web browser from the rest of its Windows 95 operating system. Microsoft says that Windows 98 will link the browser and operating system so...
