May 1--A Norfolk State University alumnus and former Bell Laboratories researcher is expanding his Herndon-based company to Norfolk.
Communications Technologies, or COMTek for short, will open a regional office in Norfolk around the middle of May, the company said Thursday.
COMTek is a systems integration company founded by NSU graduate Joseph E. Fergus in 1990.
The company employs slightly more than 100 people and will initially employ 21 people in the Norfolk office. The average salary will be more than $50,000 a year. The privately held company did not release sales figures.
