May 16--DuPont has confirmed plans to offer early retirement packages to 10 employees as part of a plan to restructure jobs at its Belle plant to improve profitability.
The planned restructuring will affect about 60 DuPont Belle employees.
"We're always looking at ways to increase productivity and to be more cost-efficient," said Norm Merkosky, plant manager. "We've done some reorganization in the past. This is more significant than what we've done in the last two or three years."
Those considering retirement will have a window of opportunity that runs until June 29 to decide whether or not to leave. DuPont wants to drop these employees from the payroll by July 31.
