Jun. 12--Beatrice Williams observed that one of Motorola's buildings had a lot of windows.
The owner of a window treatment business called up Bill Hayes, Motorola's business diversity manager, and was put in touch with a buyer. She made a bid. "It was a very good price," she said.
Within a week she had a contract.
Contracts for minority and women business owners don't usually happen that quickly or go so smoothly.
"It was the right contact and timing," said Williams, who operates B&B Window Covering in Fort Lauderdale with her husband Bill and two sons. But it also was because Williams had been aggressively marketing her window treatment business.
