Lexington, S.C., Pirelli Plant Expansion in Limbo.

Jun. 23--A multimillion-dollar expansion at Pirelli Cable Corp.'s Lexington plant has run into a roadblock and isn't likely to happen, a Lexington County councilman says.

County Council met in February to put an incentives package on the table for a deal cloaked in secrecy and known at the time only as "Project Techno." The project was said to be a $60 million expansion that could eventually mean 550 jobs.

But negotiations for land on Two Notch Road that's adjacent to Pirelli's have fallen through, said William Banning, the councilman who also heads up the council's economic development committee.

"Project Techno is basically project history," Banning said Monday.
