MGM Wins Battle to Bar Sony from Making James Bond Movies.

Jul. 28--MGM got a license to kill off Sony Pictures' James Bond movies yesterday.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the studio behind the fabled James Bond series, won a preliminary injunction that bars Sony from making Bond flicks.

The decision, which is scheduled to be filed in Federal Court in Los Angeles today, is the latest development in a fierce legal battle between MGM and Sony over the lucrative Bond franchise.

MGM had sued Sony after the Japanese-owned studio announced it was developing its own slate of Bond movies.

But like the determined secret agent in the popular films, Sony still could battle back in December, when the two entertainment giants are scheduled to face off in a trial.
