Motorola to Sell Iridium Handheld Satellite Phones for $3,395.

Aug. 5--One of the toniest catalogs in the retail industry will feature the world's first handheld satellite phone in its December issue.

Neiman Marcus, the Dallas-based specialty retailer, is breaking with tradition by showcasing its first electronic gadget -- the Iridium satellite phone.

Price tag: $3,395.

Iridium's inclusion in the slick publication is a marketing coup for the $5 billion satellite service, which was developed by engineers at Motorola Inc. in Chandler.
