Aug. 23--Easy access to cut-price calls to any standard or mobile phone in the world is on offer to Internet users.

Excite, one of the search engines that navigate the Web, uses Internet telephony service Net2Phone run by US company IDT.

The service promises savings of up to 80 percent on international calls.

There are plans for a global electronic phone directory, allowing users to avoid BT's charges for directory enquiries.
