Southwestern Bell Offers Information Services for Wireless Users in St. Louis.

Aug. 22--Wireless phones all over St. Louis could start beeping every time Mark McGwire smacks a homer with a new service from Southwestern Bell Wireless.

Starting Tuesday, the company will offer a new information service package that gives cellular customers stock quotes, weather forecasts and news on the screens of their digital phones. As an incentive, the company will offer free homer updates on McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Ken Griffey.

The new "Digital Edge" information service costs $3 to $7 a month in addition to monthly rates for digital cellular service and the cost of the phone. The cost depends on how many services a customer has. The updates appear on a small screen built into the phones. Customers can...
