Oct. 4--M. R. A. WRITES: My son was phoned by the Personal Number Company and was persuaded to reserve a phone number. He gave his wife's credit card details to hold it for a few days, to give him time to consider.
He heard nothing for a month, until he received a direct debit form from a firm called Direct Telemarketing. Having decided not to proceed, he ignored it, but his wife found UKpound 58 was charged to her Barclaycard.
PNC said it knew nothing about this, and Direct Telemarketing agreed that the money should be refunded. But we have been passed around without refund.
