Pueblo, Colo., Democrats Break Tradition to Endorse Governor Candidate.

Oct. 13--Former state Senate Minority Leader Larry Trujillo and a group of other Hispanic Democrats announced support Monday for Republican governor candidate Bill Owens.

Observers said it was the first time any segment of Pueblo's Hispanic Democratic leaders have split with tradition and endorsed a Republican governor hopeful. Pueblo County's population is more than one-third Hispanic.

It is also the first-of-its-kind endorsement from Trujillo, who until five years ago was minority leader. Trujillo left the Senate in 1993 to take an appointment to the state parole board.
