Oct. 21--Northwest Airlines posted a staggering $224 million loss for its third quarter, citing labor woes that culminated in a 15-day pilots strike, and ongoing economic weakness in its normally lucrative Pacific operation.
Going forward, questions remain on how fully and quickly Northwest can bounce back in the wake of the pilots' strike.
Company executives insisted Tuesday that Northwest is starting to rebound with strong domestic bookings, but some securities analysts noted the carrier has been slow to woo back business travelers, the highest-paying customers who account for a majority of Northwest's revenue.
