Oct. 26--Harry Dent Jr.'s speech last Monday to a group of top Merrill Lynch customers from around the state had probably been in the works for months, but it came only a few hours before Merrill Lynch reminded the world of the here and now.
Dent is the author of "The Great Boom Ahead; Job Shock;" "The Great Jobs Ahead" and "The Roaring 2000s."
Dent, a University of South Carolina graduate, spent about an hour talking about how waves of baby boomers and their children will drive spending patterns in the decades ahead. Along the way, he thrashed economists and pronounced that sex has much more to do with what happens in the economy than Alan Greenspan's calls on interest rates.
