Circulation Is Down at Riverside, Calif.-Area Newspapers.

Nov. 3--Weekday circulation at the largest daily newspapers headquartered in the Inland Empire declined from April to September despite the region's growing population and vibrant economy.

The Audit Bureau of Circulations reported that The Desert Sun in Palm Springs was the only Inland paper to report a weekday circulation gain. The paper, which is owned by Gannett Co., said that Monday-through-Saturday circulation increased 1.4 percent from a year ago to 44,757.

Gannett's other paper in the region, the San Bernardino County Sun, suffered one of the steepest declines. ABC reported that Monday-through-Saturday circulation decreased 3.7 percent from a year ago to 77,045. Sunday circulation fell 3.9 percent to...
