Executive Leaves New York-Based Retailer J. Crew after 10 Months.

Jan. 5 -- Ten months after he took the helm at J. Crew, former Burdines Chairman Howard Socol is out.

J. Crew Group announced Monday that Socol left the company by mutual agreement. The resignation, the company said, is a result of a difference in the vision for J. Crew's future and not the company's financial performance.

Socol, 53, was unavailable for comment Monday. He joined J. Crew last March as chief executive and a member of the New York-based catalog and retail company's board, calling the job an offer he "couldn't refuse."
