Jan. 18 -- TRAGEDY AT DISNEYLAND LEADS TO BEEFED-UP CHECKS HERE: Shooting the rapids. Visitors make a run on the new Kali River Rapids ride at Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney world. The ride simulates an adventure down a jungle river in Asia.
After a deadly boating accident at California's Disneyland, Walt Disney World "triple-checked" all of its boats and stepped up safety inspections to make sure such an accident doesn't occur here, a spokesman said.
A tourist was struck in the head on Christmas Eve and killed by a metal cleat that ripped loose from a 84-foot-long ship inside Disneyland.
The tourist's wife and a Disneyland employee also were injured.
