California Department of Transportation Signs Lease on Sacramento Office.

Feb. 18 -- In perhaps the biggest office lease of the young year, the state Department of Transportation has signed a seven-year agreement to occupy more than 52,000 square feet of office space near Interstates 5 and 80 in Sacramento.

About 250 Caltrans employees will start moving next month into the Northern Telecom building, a two-story complex on Gateway Oaks Drive in South Natomas, officials said Wednesday.

Spokeswoman Pat Miller said the new space will allow consolidation of all the Caltrans District 3 employees who work in the capital.
